Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota!!

We are so excited and so proud of Chance! Mayo was his top choice! I heard too many times that most people don't get their top choice so I had no clue where we would end up! I was OK with going anywhere because it's a minimum of only 3 years. I think I can handle anything for only 3 years...even Minnesota winters (at least I hope so :)

I set my camera out on the counter to take with us to the Match Day Ceremony and when we were half way there I realized I forgot it! The reason? Chance moved it to make coffee and I didn't see it :( Luckily I have smarter friends who didn't forget theirs!!

The matching process has been so crazy. I think I have tried to explain it 100 times and I am still not sure I even understand it?! In short, after you are done interviewing at the schools you applied for an interview and got accepted to interview at, you rank those programs by "favorite" to "least favorite". The hospitals do the same thing. On the Monday before Match Day, the students receive an email to let them know if they have matched or not. If they have, AWESOME...they just sit back and "relax" until Thursday. The ones who didn't match have to "scramble". I really don't understand this process so I won't go into detail, but basically they have a few days to try to find a school with an opening still (out of the ones they interviewed with). I believe they have until Wednesday or Thursday (the morning of Match) to find one. If they don't, they have to wait until the next year to try to apply again.

Once Thursday rolls around, there is a Match Day Ceremony. We all loaded up and went to the Merket Alumni Center for this event. Ella was excited she got to come too! Just before 11am they started passing out everyones sealed envelope with they're fate waiting inside! Each student also got a personalized letter opener to use to open it! No one is allowed to open it until exactly 11am! (they took a long time to speak and call everyones names so we didn't get to open until like 11:08...it was HARD!).

I had heard someone say that at theirs there was a lot of crying and stuff so I was SCARED! It seemed like everyone was really happy at this one?! A LOT of people got their first choice and if they didn't, it was still pretty high up and they were still so excited! I was just at a loss for words! haha. I kind of thought it was going to happen but reality hit when I saw the letter. It will be an exciting adventure for our little family. and I can't wait to start it! Chance will graduate on May 21st and we will move shortly after that. I have already started looking at houses...can't say that I am that excited about what I have seen. Their style of houses and decorating ideas couldn't be more different than mine!! haha hopefully we still fit in there! We will be taking a trip soon to go look at some houses! I will keep you updated!

Later on that night we went to the Match Day Dinner... I have a cute picture of us, but just need to get it from the friend who took it :) They did awards at the end...something no one was really expecting and Chance won outstanding Internal Medicine student from all the Internal Medicine Doctors he works with! So so proud of him! All the hard work these last 4 years is really starting to pay off (finally ;)!

Yay! We are so excited! We found out today that Chance matched to a residency program! Which one? NO CLUE! but we find out on Thursday at 11am! We can't wait to find out. The anxiety and anxiousness is started to get to me! Hopefully I can make it a few more days!

Will it be Texas? Minnesota? Missouri? Tennessee? Alabama? We will seeeeeee!!!!

WEE Sports

My friend and I enrolled our girls into a "wee sports" class at one of the community centers here in Lubbock. She origionally wanted to sign her daughter up for basketball, but she wanted to do soccer. I found this wee sports class that had basketball, tee-ball, and soccer and jumped at the idea. It's a 10 week class so I thought it would be good for the girls to get a chance to practice all of them and get a basic idea of how to play them all (since I have NO clue how to teach her myself, haha)and then she coudl choose next year what she liked best!

The first class was the night before the big winter storm hit so the class was inside. They were limited on space so the kids played hockey...the girls were not fans.

The next class they played basketball. The girls were not fans. They couldn't dribble the ball and were definitely afraid of the 8 boys launching the adult size basketballs at their faces. Their were lots of tears from both of them. We stuck it out though.

The next class they played a basketball game. We were in Wichita Falls, thank goodness.

Today they played a basketball "game" again for the first half. Ella was VERY standoffish but I coerced her into participating (bribed her with the park next door). She still can't dribble, but really tried! and even made a goal! A+ for effort!! That's ALL that matters to me.

They also practiced catching/throwing the plastic softballs and pitching them into the target net. Again, she looked at me like she was miserable, but stuck it out and did an awesome job!

The problem isn't that she doesn't want to learn. It's that there are all boys in the class (except Pearl) and some of them are way older (have to be almost 5!). They are all boy too..they know how to dribble, they have played all these before, and they are awesome at being rough...Ella is not. She's around me all day!! So glad she is being a good sport about it and is participating!They will play tee-ball for a couple more weeks then HOPEFULLY we will move on to soccer! Oh, the other problem is that the teacher has NO clue how to teach or talk to 3 year olds. I won't even go into the details, but she is less than encouraging to the girls or the little boys are don't know what they are doing. buuttt I guess it is a 35 dollar class through the community center, so I guess you get what you pay for! The teacher that was supposed to teach, backed out last minute so they scrambled and found a trainer. Shes real nice-just not great with the little ones. Like I said though, it's a good experience though for Ella and it helps me see what I need to be teaching her to get ready to play sports!

Here are some from the first day of class. She is running around testing out her new kicks! Which BTW, she wears and 11 now and that means she is in the "big girl shoes" where a pair of Nike's run you like $60!! I can get a pair for 80 or 90! Crazy-ness.

so this morning when Ella woke up she immediately told me that she was mad at me because she was in her room scared and crying and I didn't come in there and check on her. I had no clue what she was talking about...her room is kinda far from ours and I don't have a a monitor in there or anything because she usually doesn't wake up, and if she does, she does her thing and then will go back to sleep. If it's in the morning, she just comes and gets me ( usually we are already up in the living room by the time she wakes up! ). I started asking questions to see what happened and she said she saw a cat's tail in her room. haha wait WHAT? She went on forever how there was a furry wiggly cats tail... I just kept laughing telling her it was her imagination. Then came bed time, and she like refused to go in her room by herself- even just to get her pj's. Got her dressed for bed and she made me carry her in there, then she started crying begging to sleep in my bed or me to sleep with her. We have never had this problem! So I "checked" her room, made Dad and the dogs check her room, turned on her bright lamp, and put the video monitor so I could watch her room all night to see if I saw a cat (her idea). I think I spent an hour telling her she was going to be OK. We kept telling her she maybe just dreamed it- THEN it clicked! YESTERDAY, Chance had the brilliant idea to let her watch the Johnny Dep version of Alice in Wonderland (what the HECK). He asked me if I had seen it the other day and I said yes, it's creepy and he said Ella should watch it- umm no, did you hear me just say it was creepy? Then I walk in the living room yesterday and they are watching it!! I was like this is creepy she doesn't need to watch this. WHO WAS RIGHT! Either she had a nightmare about the cat from Alice in Wonderland or she "thinks" she saw him walk past her room. this is why we say "mom's ALWAYS know BEST!". Finally got the little one to go to sleep- yes, her door was wide open. The imagination and the thoughts that go through a 3 year olds head- if only we knew half of it!

now that mr. man ("little bud" as Ella started calling him while we were trying to get him to crawl, haha)is crawling and pulling himself up on EVERYTHING, I decided to lower his crib to the lowest setting. Bittersweet! It's nice that he's growing up because it makes it a million times easier on me and chance (AND ella!) but so sad he will be 1 in less than 3 months. I feel like I don't even remember ella as a one year old! I break out pictures all the time but it's not the same. trying to take in all these with him as much as I can so I DON'T FORGET THEM!!

I had it in the middle for like 2 weeks and now he's all the way down! Glad I am tall or else this would be killer to get him out! how do short people do it?

9 Months!

Big boy Creighton is officially 9 months old! We took a (shot free) trip to see Dr. Scott this week. He weighed 25 pounds and 4 ounces and was 30.7 inches long. On the chart, he is in the 99th percentile for both height and weight. Dr. Scott compared his size to a 15 month old baby, haha. He's a big ol' boy for SURE! He's wearing 18-24 month clothes right now... some are too small. He outgrows clothes faster than I can find them! Ella weighs 35 pounds...only 10 pounds more!

Nothing major happened at the doctor and thank goodness he didn't need shots. He was happy and healthy! He will go back at 12 months (may!).

Chance went with us so I forgot to take a picture in the doc's office so I snapped this when we got to the car. He was EXTRA tired...hadn't had a nap and it was 200!!

A little run down of Mr. Mav (ella keeps insisting we call him Maverick these days)..

He's crawling, pulling up on everything, getting into everything, pulls out all of my cords that are plugged in, eats all the time!, talking (says Ella,Ball, Mom, Dad,Bite and says something every time he sees the dogs but we can't decide what it is, ha!), has started biting us, has 2 chompers, still spits up but not NEAR as much, isn't a fan of baby fruits...usually only eats the veggies or meals.

LOVES Cheeto's, peas, feeding himself, ELLA, baths, DAD, the puppies, balls, chasing Ella, pulling tissues out of box, crawling on Ella, BOUNCING, riding in the stroller.

HATES putting on clothes (ESPECIALLY SHIRTS), laying on his back, getting diaper changed, being put to bed (not ALWAYS), being strapped down in his car-seat!

with the weather being AWESOME these last few days (besides the WEST-Texas WIND), we have tried to be outside as much as possible! I haven;t gotten Creighton any "boy-ish" outside toys yet since it JUST started warming up a bit, so he's been cruising around in all of ella's toys... I don't think he minded!

and now that the little man is cruising all through out the house...he is finding himself in predicament way too often!

our valentine's (love day as ella marked it) consisted of fevers, coughs, snot, sneezes and all around feeling crummy! Not sure where ella caught it, but she got it and got it hard...so we laid around all day and snacked on all of our love day treats.

we played with our car seat box (this has been a HUGE hit with our kids AND everyone else's... the box wasn't cheap (had to buy the car seat) but I have never seen something that wasn't a toy get so much use and cause sooo many laughs. Creighton LOVES the thing!!!)

a few love day cards Ella made a couple of weeks ago. we were bored so I broke out some crafts. She never gave them to anyone though...she said she wanted to keep them. We started to make all the family members one like we did last year but, no excuses, just never happened! :(

I got a new toy in that i just bought with my Christmas. IT'S awesome. All I want to do is play with it and make stuff... not bad these kids won't let me! Anyway, I made something for Ella to wear for Valentine's day. I found the pattern and my machine cut it out for me and then I screen printed it on there. I am not artist by any means so this was all done with stencils and a little free handing to touch up some stuff. I think it turned out way too cute and it's not something we have to throw in the back of the closet after valentine's day.

I'll post more pictures when she gets to wear it!

he's finally crawling! Still trying to get good at it but least he can get to point A to point B without having to get on his belly, then sit up, get on belly, sit up, and so on until he lands somewhere "else". Ella was less excited. She now realizes she really does have to keep her teeny tiny toys UP and AWAY from him!

He did it! He said his first word and it was "ella" folling shortly after was his second, "ball". Later the same day, we are pretty sure he said "mom" and the next day he said "dad". Haha you would think we made it up, but he said all of them either when the person walked off or if you asked him where they went or where it was (ball). Maybe he's been saying them and we just didn't notice? He said Ella while I was at the gym (ya, the first time I think I have left both of them with Chance (while they were awake) in forever and he says it just as soon as I left! We r still working on the crawling status....

Santa

Ella had made a major break through with this whole Santa thing. last year she was still terrified of him. This year she is like a whole knew person!! We went to Dallas a few weeks ago for a wedding, and we saw him at the Frisco mall...she insisted she wanted to sit on his lap and talk to him. We actually had to talk her out of it. I told her Creighton wasn't there to be in the picture with her, and she didn't care. She still wanted to see him. The only thing that worked was that she still needed to write her letter to him and she needed to have it when she saw him. whew! They were HIGH! It was like $25 for one photo! I would have paid it if we had Creighton too, but not that picture in addition to another one with both of them.

I was thinking that the mall in Wichita Falls had a drop box for the North Pole so Ella and I waited to send her letter till we were home recently. Of course when we went to the mall, we couldn't find anything like that. We went to Santa's station but there was no mail box and Santa was on a break. Ella wasn't happy but dealt with it. As we were walking to leave the mall, we looked up and saw SANTA walking out of a store (temporary tattoo store, lol). We walked over to him and she hugged him and gave him her letter. She actually smiled for a photo too. Shocking!!!

Monday I was planning to take the kids to finally see Santa at our mall. She had gymnastic that morning and Santa was due to make an appearance there as well. I was a little worried because I keep thinking she is going to catch onto this whole scheme. There are just too many Santas everywhere to make this real. I could tell she was excited when she saw Mr. Clause (a 20yr old male with brown hair, glasses, stick skinny, and an "emo" like voice and vocabulary)...she ran up to him and got a candy cane from him. She starred him down and then took a big group picture with him and the other kids. The moment we got in the car she said "Mom, that's not the Santa who delivers the presents, is it?". lol, I knew she noticed something. I explained that Santa sends "Santa Helpers" out to make appearances because he can't be everywhere at once. When we went to the mall later, she saw him walk by and said "MOM! That's the real Santa, right?". haha she could tell him "looked" like a Santa.

Man, I like the idea of Santa, but having to make up lies isn't fun?

Here is the official Santa 2010 picture. I blame the photography lady for not getting a good picture. I had them both smiling for what seemed like forever. She took 2 pictures the entire time ( like at least 5 min ). Creighton just wanted to pull Santas beard. He wasn't scared of him at all. Just wanted that beard!!! Santa was hurting I think.. he kept saying "YUP, it's real!". haha!

Halloween

WOW! I can't believe I never posted Halloween pictures! haha I am AWFUL! Can anyone guess what my New Year's resolution is?

Ella was a super star trick-or-treater on Halloween. She was running from house to house leaving everyone behind! By the end of the night, her cousins had bailed and she was still going strong! Everyone wanted to go watch the Rangers play, except Ella. Creighton was cruising in the stroller so he was MORE than happy!

I almost forgot, if you couldn't tell, Ella chose to be Little Red Riding Hood and Creighton was Maverick from Top Gun. I wanted Creighton to be the big bad wolf, but I am not the most craft person so I didn't really know where to start then things got crazy and it was too late...plus, Ella wouldn't make up her mind about her costume. She changed her mind daily. Chance suggested the Maverick outfit...it was perfect. Basically just a 1 piece outfits, so he was pretty comfy!

St Louis & Atlanta

Chance had interviews for residency programs in St. Louis at Washington and in Atlanta at Emory . I was so lucky to get to go with him! Unfortunately, I left my BATTERY for my camera in Wichita Falls (yes, didn't realize it until after I carried the big ol' camera around at the airport and everywhere else) so I didn't get many good pictures. Most are with my phone but I wanted to share...

Just a few I took in St. Louis. I took these while trying to drive - ha!

The houses in the area were SO stinking close to each other. It was so random!

We had an extra day in St Louis so we spent the day touring the city...these were taken from the top of the Gateway Arch. It was AMAZING! You have to take these like TINY cart/elevator/train/tram things up to the top. There are like 6 connected to each other and each only seats 5 people. It's a TIGHT squeeze getting in them. It's really ROUNDED so you have to like bend your neck forward the whole time. It's only like a 5 minute ride up and like a 2 minute ride down so it's not that bad! When you get up there it is crazy scary (well, it was for me and I am definitely afraid of heights!). The viewing "deck" is at the top of the arch and when you stand to look at is actually "arched". There isn't an inch of it up there that is flat. Plus, we went on like the windiest day possible so we could actually feel it swaying! The guy up there said it sways like up to an inch...ummm felt like 6!! We only stayed up there for like 10 minutes...got a few pictures...and got the heck down ;) Really cool to experience though!!

Never knew St. Louis has a CASINO! We spent HOURS here. Not that I am a gambler or anything but it was so much fun. They had a piano bar inside the hotel and everything. It was like it's own resort!

We didn't have much time in Atlanta... I slept in, ate lunch at Cheesecake Factory, and then went shopping :) until Chance was done with his interview. We had a few hours to kill before our flight so we ended up going to the aquarium (it's the world's largest aquarium!) to kill some time. It was amazing for sure!!! So sad E wasn't with us. I took SO many pictures to show her!

While on our way home we got this :) I was sooo glad to get back to my munchkins!

We finally got to meet with Ella's teacher, Mrs. Andrews, for our parent teacher conference. We were supposed to do it last week but were in Wichita Falls so we rescheduled. To be honest, I was actually kind of worried going into it. I wasn't worried that she wasn't developed, I was worried she was going to say she was a little terror, haha! She said the complete opposite! She said she was pretty quiet and shy in class and didn't really talk much or try to talk over people....what the! that's not how she is at home! haha. I knew she was like that though, especially with overpowering, older or louder kids. When she is around kids younger than her, she bosses them around and does with the older kids do to her I am sure, ha! I used to worry about it with her because I was afraid she would be too much like me when I was younger...real shy and afraid to just step out and do stuff because I was so worried I would fail or look dumb. I pray she isn't that way or that all kids wouldn't be that way! Anyways, she has progressed soooo much on it so I am not too worried about it. I was watching her in line at the water fountain yesterday in gymnastics and she was like cutting in front of kids and racing to beat them there...not that I approve of any of these things, but it shows me she doesn't just shy away and stay behind by herself anymore like she used to! We had to talk her OUT of getting her picture with Santa the other day...so not baby Ella.

She was ranked competent (consistently demonstrates the behavior or skill) in everything except one thing...returns toys to their proper place after finished with them. hahaha I'M SHOCKED (insert sarcastic tone)! That seems to be the one thing we work on alll the time and it just doesn't work. I have a "place" for everything in her room and it's organized sooo well and yet she has no desire to put them in their place when she is done. And really, a lot of the stuff she does put in it's actual spot that it belongs to, it's just that I can't get her to actually pick them up off the floor where she left them. I tried bragging and now we are to if you don't pick them up the vacuum is going to eat them or I am throwing them away! haha I didn't know what else to do!

Anyways, we are so proud of her so and that is such a little thing that can be easily fixed so I am not too worried about it! She is such a blessing and wouldn't trade her for the world!

New Tub

We busted out Creighton's new bath tub tonight since he can sit up so well now! Of course he loves it and wouldn't stop splashing me and Ella! He LOOVEEES baths and now that he can sit up while doing it, is probably like Heaven to him! Of course Mama Ella made sure he had all the necessary toys to bathe with...

His face is red from all the carrot he smeared everywhere!

Sittin Up

Creighton is finally siting up ALL on his own! He's been doing it for a week or so but we still had to watch him and steady him so he didn't fall. Now he can sit there for what seems like forever because he LOVES it so much! He skipped rolling over (although he has done it twice, it just never became a thing he always tried to do) and I think is ready to make his move at crawling. He lays on his belly and can kind of spin himself a little bit when he is trying to follow where his sister is going (he doesn't take his eyes off of her). He may even have a tooth coming in? I have been saying that for months now because he ATTACKS everything he puts in his mouth, but this time it really does seem gum/teeth related. I guess we will see!

Turkey Day

Creighton was a wee bit fussy on his first Turkey Day. Still not sure why? Fed him green beans the night before (something I have only done once before and he threw up almost all of them after) and was spitting up TONS all night and day. I mean don't get me wrong, he spits up a lot all the time, but this was kind of ridiculous, plus he was super cranky. Who knows? I am going to hide the green beans for a while just in case. He in LOVE with peas so I think he will be fine. On the other hand, Ella was in a wonderful mood and always LOVES having family and kids around to play with her :)

Tangled

Chance and I fianlly took Ella to see her first movie. Ya, I know that sounds really bad, but up until a few months ago I don't know she would have ever sat through one. She used to FREAK out with loud noises and overreact about stuff. We took her to the Omni Theater like a year ago (ya I know that was a big step, but I had never been either so I was going off of Chance's word) and we had to leave bc she was spazzing out! Just recently we started talking about taking her but we have the wee man and just hadn't found the time to get a sitter. Anyways, we FINALLY went and she LOVED it. She has changed soo much in the last year personality wise so it's crazy to see her just sit there and not freak out from the sound (I even let my Mom take her the Circus without me the other day and didn't worry she would freak out...so weird). We decided to take her to see Tangled since it was like the only Disney movie out that she might be interested in. We tried to go to the first show on the first day it came out and shocking, it was sold out! We were in a time crunch so we had to hurry and the next showing was real soon but it was 3D. I worried about it but decided it was better to go to 3d then not go at all...we had really been talking this up.I had never been to a 3d movie before and oh my gosh, I don't think I will ever go back. It;s ridiculous how pretty it is!!! Ella wore her glasses most of the time. If she got bored she took them off but that was very little. I am so proud of her! Can't wait to take her back! She keeps asking if we can go see Tangled again, haha!

family wedding

Recently we went to a family wedding and decided to take Miss Ella with us. All of my family would be there and it was a chance for her to hang out with Mom and Dad only so we took her along! Creighton was recovering from a double ear infection so he stayed with Gayngee and Pop-pop! Ella had a blAST at the wedding. I have never seen that girl "dance" so much in all her life! She skipped in a big circle around all the people dancing for at least 2 hours. She even danced with my Uncle David! She is usually shy and never talks to guys she doesn't know. We couldn't get her to leave this place!

The next day we took Ella ice skating for the first time ever.. she was a NATURAL (like her mother, ha!). Dad was done after like one time around...we went in circles for at least an hour. She had not intentions quiting! I had to bribe her to leave ( we were STARVING). She definitely had a BLAST!

We went to the Pumpkin Patch FINALLY last week. It was Ella's reward for getting her teeth cleaned at the dentist :) She did it, so we went. We didn't stay too long because Creighton was in need of a nap ASAP! I love the look on his face in the first picture. It seems like that's the face I always get when I am taking pictures. Like, "why is she holding me and why do you always have to take pictures of us?". Oh well, still cute! and hey, least Ella smiled!

Field Trip to the Arboretum

Ella's second field trip was to the Lubbock Arboretum. The kids had such a blast collecting things they found on the ground to take back to school. Mrs. Andrews (ella's teacher), knows a lot about plants and such... I was listening intently trying to learn some interesting facts! a lot of cool stuff learned!

Before the field trip I got to sit in on her class and then I also got to watch music class. I love getting to see all the fun stuff she does all day. Makes me so happy she goes!!

Story Time Live

Since Chance just so happened to be on-call when Nickelodeon Story Time Live came to town ( I had bought tickets months in advance ), Ella decided she wanted to take one of her best friend Pearl along with her. The girls had a blast! After the first half, we moved up high on the balcony so the girls could dance and get up instead of being squished between so many people. I could tell they were way happier up there too!

Yup, that's me. I have been slacking for a while now. I keep saying I will stop, but it really does seem like I never have time to myself anymore. Creighton has been waking up at least once a night when he's not sick and when he is (which has been for the last month and a half off and on), it's 2-3 times a night and coughing LOUDLY pretty much all night. I forgot how much that wears down on you! I have been laying in bed with my brain turned off by 9 every night. I took a Claritan D today (yup, he gave me the cold), so now I have too much energy and I'm not sure if I will be able to go to bed tonight. Soooo I guess I will do a little catching up!!

Ballet Visitor's Day

Ella had her first visitor day in Ballet... I was so excited to get to see her perform. She was very shy and timid throughout the class. That's how she always is though so I know she will get out of this very soon. It's so cute to watch her do all the steps and stuff. Seems like only yesterday I was in ballet/tap class! I got a sewing machine for my bday and finally made a skirt! Not the best, but, hey! I made something :) I cut the pattern wrong...I wanted the striped to be vertical but I folded the material wrong when I cut it! Practice makes perfect. I plan to make more and even make myself one! They look so comfy!

Ella's 1st School Field Trip

Ella's class too their first field trip to none other thank United Supermarket. Ella didn't seem too excited about United (since we practically live there) but she was excited to see it in a whole new "light". We went into the freezers, checked out groceries, made a flower arrangement, cut open some fruits, and watched a cake be decorated. Lot's of fun! Mommy even learned a lot on the trip :)

Before the field trip we got to stay and watch Ella's class! It was a lot of fun to get to see what she's been up to! Mom came in town to help me with Creighton, so they came along too! Ella was so excited to show us around.

Painting Pumpkins

I love the idea of painting pumpkins instead of carving them. Carving them is a pain! This way is cute, fun, and last so much longer! I have also seen people spray paint them gold after Thanksgiving and tie a cute Christmas bow on top! Will definitely be trying it next year!

Creighton can , thankfully, hold his own bottle now! He still drops it after a minute or so, but sometimes he will hold it most of the bottle! Makes it so much easier when we are trying to rush around and get dressed in the mornings-when we aren't in a rush, I don't MAKE him hold it though :)

In other news, he got his first dose of rice cereal today... big Sister was there to help too! He ate like a champ, and you wouldn't have known it was his first time. Well, first time that I know about, ha!

Hair Cut

Mr. Creighton got his first hair cut a bit earlier than most babies. He was just over 4 months when I did it. It was looking pretty rough. I feel bad that I just took him to the mall and let some random dude do it, but it was one of those things where if I didn't do it RIGHT then, I might have changed my mind! I am so glad I did too. He looks so much better. Chance can't call him "Hitler" anymore, thank goodness!!

He slept the first few minutes. Woke up and got fussy, so I fed him and then while he ate we did the rest. Haha, ya, it really is funny the difference in the way you are with your second and your first. You say you won't, but it's not like you have any other choice. You do what you can! Ella played photographer...

This one looks sad, but he was sleeping just fine...never budged until it was time to eat and then he immediately woke up on the dot. I'm not forcing his paci in either. He was sucking on it and that's just how fell in my hands.

4 Month Check Up

Today was Creighton's 4 month check up. He is 17 lbs. and 2 oz. (90th percentile-up from 75th at 2 months) and 25 inches long (75th percentile). Ella at her 4 month check up was 16lbs and 13oz and 26 inches long! It's so fun to compare them. I can definitely tell Creighton isn't as long as she was. I say it all the time to Chance. It looks like his legs are a little bit shorter than his torso but he still looks long. I am betting he will be built more like my Dad.

Everything else seems great. He said the spit up thing is normal when they have Reflux and will go away around 6 months when he starts sitting up... I am pretty sure that's when Ella got better too. Luckily they both aren't too bothered by it. I am though! haha. I HAVE to do a load a day for Creighton or I run out of burp rags and bibs and believe me, I have PLENTY ( MORE than enough actually), so it's not that I need to buy more.

We are going to start feeding him rice cereal with a spoon sometime soon! Maybe tomorrow?! He's cranky today from the two shots :(

Happy 4 months to my chunky, smiley and happy baby boy! At 4 months, you LOVE your sister (laugh and smile at anything she does and watch every move she makes!), laugh all the time, smile at anything, spit up like crazy, poop like crazy, want to eat ALL the time, sleep through the night (most nights), very ticklish, love to "hollar" & "talk", can hold your head up completely, love your paci, and look JUST like your Dad and Ella when she was a baby just to name a few!

Ella finally started pre-school on the 6th! She absolutely LOVES it. It didn't even phase her when I dropped her off. She was way more interested in the purple play-doh. She goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-12. I love hearing all the stories and seeing what she did that day when Creighton and I go pick her up. He is always SOO excited to see her again.

I MADE her let me take pictures, but she had no desire to smile. When I put up my camera and got out my phone, she decided to smile a little so those poor quality pics are on here too :)

I got Ella's school schedule today! She starts 3 year old preschool on September 7th!! eeeek! I cannot believe it! She has been at home with me since she was born. Will I survive? haha I am sure since it's only 2 days a week for 3 hours each day. She is SOOO excited! I am excited for her!

We leave for vacation on Friday (to WF) and on Sunday we are flying out of DFW! I can't wait for the Mommy-Ella trip! We are sad to leave Chance and Creighton behind, but they will be in good hands for the next week :) I'll have TONS of pictures when we return.

I have seen this many times by email and every time I read it, I laugh SOOO hard! Chance said one of them to me the other day and I was like "OMG I need to find that email"...well, he did some searching and found it for me! Some of them are soo true and I have actually thought how weird or crazy it was I did/thought that- it's nice to know other people are crazy too lol! Whoever wrote it is hilarious and I thank them!

1. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

2. More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

3. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

4. I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter?

5. Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

6. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

7. The letters T and G are very close to each other on a keyboard. This recently became all too apparent to me and consequently I will never be ending a work email with the phrase "Regards" again.

8. Do you remember when you were a kid playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.

Everyone always talks about Terrible Two's... I am not sure why. 2 was easy. 3 is HARD! This girl has got a MIND of her OWN! She's got everyone wrapped around her finger and she knows it!

I went in my bedroom to feed Creighton the other day and when I cam out (15 minutes later) she had taken about 10 mini cookies (the crumbly kind) and had crumbled them up in a trail ALL through my house. Fire place, the dogs room, dining room, baby room her room...she had even managed to crumble them in my room without me seeing! OMG it was EVERYWHERE. She has NEVER done anything like that before! I think she searching for some attention! The day before that, she took markers and colored her ENTIRE legs....hip to toes...then sneaked off into her room and used TONS of lotion to "wipe the mark off". The problem was that they were washable markers, so when she rubbed almost the entire Bath & Body Works pink pomegranate tube of lotion on her legs, it mixed with the markers and turned everything dark green, even my carpet, rugs, and her pink chair...eeeek! haha some times I wonder what is going through her head?! (I didn't take pictures bc I didn't want her to think it was OK to do-I was mad{but laughing inside}).

She's a handful but she keeps me LAUGHING all day long...makes the stressful times forgettable :)

I dunno why she started this...but she likes to hide her stuff from me, including herself, in the pillows.

She came in the room the other day and asked me if she could have one of my "Bible bands". I had NO clue what she was talking about...so finally she went and got me her Children's Bible and showed me their "head bands" and said she wanted to wear mine like they do, lol!

Hadley Grae Scott

My friend Kelli had her baby a few weeks ago (June 18th)... I am sad though... I only got to see her one time and then they moved to Wichita, Kansas :( She is the mother of Aubrey, Ella's bestie. Ella keeps asking where Aubrey is but I am having a hard time explaining she has moved. She is going to have to go through this again in May when we move, but I think it will be different when SHE is the one moving to a new house, city, school and everything else. She'll be too excited to think about leaving Lubbock behind.

I wanted to post a picture of Miss Hadley because I picked out her name :) They liked Haddie but we knew someone with that name. I had heard Hadley on a (what do ya know) reality show I watched last year. I really liked it and the girl was really pretty and fun so I like the name because she seemed to be a cute/fun person. I suggested it to Kelli, and what do you know, it made the cut! They didn't find out the sex until after she had her so we weren't sure she was going to use it until after she was born! (The anticipation killed me :) Now that they have chosen that name, I have heard of 2 other babies with that name! Not babies I know, but I have heard it in passing. Crazy! I had seriously never heard it before-besides on TV! Oh well, it's still cute and so is the baby!!

2 Month Check Up

Creighton had his 2 month check up on Tuesday. Everything (besides the stomach problems) is going well! He was 12lbs and 7oz (had a full belly)...thats like a pound in a week! haha. He was 23 inches long. (When I took him to the doctor last week, she said he was 21 and a 1/2 inches...not sure if that is accurate though.. I think I posted that she said 23 inches. I was a bit confused I guess?!). Both height and weight are in the 75th percentile. Ella was always in the 99th ;)

Unfortunately, he had 2 get THREE shots and one oral vaccine. He cried for a minute, but I think it was Ella who took it the worst. She hid behind me and whined because "it hurts him" :) I think she was feeling sympathy pain for the rest of the day too! I think the shots eventually bothered Creighton. Once I gave him Tylenol, he slept for hours! Yesterday, he was pretty cranky and spit up a lot more than usual. I am hoping it was just side effects from the shots.

The doctor switched his formula to Enfamil Nutrmigen (for colic and sensitive tummies. I am not sure if it is making a difference or not. The last 2 nights he hasn't done his normal cry fits in the evening, but he was fussy all day/night yesterday and didn't go to sleep till 2am. Like I said, I am hoping thats from the shots. I guess we will see in a couple days if this formula is working...I am praying that it does. I just feel so bad for him!!!

Unconditional Love

Everyone always asks if Ella is jealous of Creighton and my immediate answer is NO WAY! She stopped minding me after I had him, but not for attention...just because she knew I was busy with him and she knew I couldn't do anything about it, haha!

She is so in love with him it unreal. She tells me when I can and can't touch him, how I am supposed to touch him, and when I am doing something wrong. If he cries, she is at his side in a matter of seconds. I can't get the girl OFF of him! She literally tries to lay on him which causes him to spit up, ha! She is getting a little bit better, but still wakes him up as soon as he is asleep because she just can't handle being away from him!

Mr. Mav was 8 weeks on Tuesday! I can't believe how much his hair hair a reddish tint. Chance's hair was kinda red when he was born so I guess that's where it's coming from. It's soo curly too... I guess like my Dad's. It doesn't look curly because if I brush it, it's board straight when it dries (just like Ella's does). When it is wet, it is kinky curly though! It's too cute. I need to take a picture of it while it's wet...

Father's Day 2010

For father's day this year, I took Ella to the Mud Room to paint Chance something. She had soo much fun painting him a beer mug... we chose it because it was big and had lots of room to paint! Of course Ella couldn't wait to give it to him, so we had to give it to him a few days early. We also gave him another set of Buckyballs. He LOVES these things! If you know someone who likes magnets, these things are beyond cool. Chance plays with them mindlessly while he is studying and makes the coolest things! We also have them on our fridge to hold up all the pictures I have scattered all over it :)

I bought cards for my Dad, Chance's Dad, and Chance and had Ella "sign" them and then I wrote her name. I didn't realize until after we gave them their cards and presents that I forgot to sign Creighton's name on everything! haha OOPS!

Ella has a thing about giving us choices when she asks us questions. "Are you happy or mad", "Is Creighton awake or 'ableep'", "Are we going to the park or not"... and usually the questions are followed by "Which one is it". Sometimes she would give us 3 choices and one would be completely different... "Mommy are you happy, mad, or fun - which one is it" or "Mom, is Creighton mad, happy, or hot". So we thought this little saying on his beer stein was only fitting...

It took me a lot of convincing to get "Princess" Ella to stick her hand in the paint to do her hand print. She does not like to get dirty!

At the Doctor Again

Creighton will definitely be my problem child! I predicted it before he was born...the moment I found out it was a boy actually.

We have had a few tough weeks here lately. He was getting really fussy in the evenings before we left and would refuse to go to sleep...it would last like 4 hours and I would just have to bounce and bounce. He would be fine, but then he would spit his paci and out and scream and whine. Rinse and repeat. FINALLY he would eat again and then crash! He'd sleep about 4 - 6 hours and then eat again. Then it was every 2-3 hours he wanted to eat again.

As the days passed while we were gone, he got fussier and wanted to eat ALL the time. It was like I could never put him down or he would scream!

Yesterday, I took him to the doctor and he prescribed him Zantec for acid reflux. He said a major sign that it was bothering him is how after he would eat, he would stretch out, arch his back, and scream and whine. I knew something had been wrong, but it's kind of one of those things you think will go away with time. Once it got worse and not better, I knew I should take him in. He said in about 2 days we would have a whole new baby (not that the Zantec would cure the acid reflux, but would ease the pain).

He weighed 11 lbs. and 14 oz. when they weighed him (WOW) and 23 inches long. Needless to say, he is growing just fine!

Yesterday was definitely the worst day so far... I gave him his medicine as soon as we got home but it was a ROUGH day! He was not a happy camper. Finally at like 8 I gave him medicine again and then fed him at 830. We talked for a little while then he got cranky again. Finally by 10 my bouncing had put him to sleep so I rolled over as well and crashed! I woke up at like 740 from him grunting and was rather confused. I thought maybe Chance had fed him through the night so I woke him up to ask...but NOPE. So then that means Creighton slept from 10pm to 745am. Almost 10 hours!!! WOW! Not sure if it was the medicine or the lack of sleep from yesterday and all that crying, but either way, Mommy is a happy camper! One full night of sleep after too many restless nights is GREATLY appreciated! I pretty much had to wake him up to get him to take his meds so there is no telling how much longer he would have slept. (Probably not much longer because of all the moaning and groaning :) Once I fed him, he was wide awake so we talked then came in the living room to do laundry...I put him in his bouncer and within like 5 minutes he crashed! He hasn't gone to sleep on his own in like 2 weeks. Hmmm maybe it will be a good day... fingers crossed :)

We are finally back from visiting Wichita Falls! It's always SOO nice to get back home and not have to live out of suitcases! Yesterday was a rough day, so I am hoping to get back into the swing of things today! I have LOTS to talk about :)

Friends Moving On...

One of Ella's besties is moving in less than 2 weeks and I am so sad for her and don't know how to tell her! I know she won't REALLY understand so I am trying to decide if I should just not really tell her, haha. It's sad because she is going to have to get used to this... we will be moving in a year and she will lose all her friends and start over and may have to do that up like 3 more times (hopefully not though). Ella and Aubrey have so much fun together, despite all there sisterly bickering :) It's bittersweet for them to move. They are officially done with med school and residency and now he will be a practicing, big money making physician and they will be closer to home and family but far-far away from all of us here in Lubbock... Maybe one day we can pack our bags and fly to Wichita, Kansas to see them or better yet, hopefully they come back to visit us. Either way it will be difficult because we have Creighton and they will have a newborn on Friday...which by the way, we are SO excited about. They don't know if they are having a boy or a girl and it is KILLLLLLIIINGG me!!! I always said once I had a boy and a girl I would not find out the sex of my next baby but I am not sure it's even possible for me! I have tried to talk our doctor into telling me what she is having and it wouldn't work. I am a nervous wreck for HER...imagine how I would be if it were mine?!?! WHEW too much to think about! My guess though is that she is having a girl. It's gone back and forth but my FINAL decision is a girl!

A couple of weeks ago Aubrey came over to play while Kelli and Jared went to something for his Fellowship "graduation"... the girls played and played and played and were both very upset when Aubrey had to finally leave.

Today, Aubrey's Mommy and Daddy took the girls to Mr. Gatti's... Mr Daddie's as Ella calls it...to play. I hear they had a blast and it's all Ella has talked about today. This was probably the last time they will get to play together :(

Kelli calls Ella "Ella Bird" and today Ella goes... "Mom, did you know my name is Ella Bird" and I said "No...who calls you that" and she said "just Kelli". You know she loooves the attention from another Mommy!

Friday Creighton was 1 month! WOW! Time flies when you are having fun right! I actually remembered to take some photos... I guess two kids isn't killing ALL my brain cells :)

Vision

You can definitely tell Creighton's vision is starting to "work" or whatever they say. Last night when I was talking to him I would move to the left and right and he would follow me! Today, he's been doing it all day to Ella and Me. I love it! It's soo sweet and makes you really start to feel like they actually know who you are, but it's sad too because I feel like he is already growing too fast! Yes, he is only 5 weeks, but still...I feel like he is already slipping away and tomorrow I will wake up and he will be 3 like Ella!! Hopefully, that won't happen :) I need some more baby cuddling time!!

So good news, Creighton's face already looks a MILLION times better. I guess the hydrocortisone cream really helped with the inflammation and redness. It's still there, but at times is barely visible and he's not near as swollen! Thanks GOODNESS!!! I am sure he is annoyed with all the junk I am putting on his face but I know it's helping so he'll have to just deal with it :) Keep praying that this rash will completely go away FAST! It can last months in some cases :(

Minor Problem

Poor Creighton has had a rash on his face since last Wednesday.. it has progressively gotten worse and yesterday I thought it was really bad, until I saw it today. Last week, I thought it was "baby acne". By Saturday, it looked more like a rash and not acne because it was spreading. Chance took it too the Pediatrician he is following at school, which happens to be our pediatrician, and he said it looked like Seborrheic dermatitis...aka Cradle Cap. Weird part, it's not on his head like where cradle cap is... apparently this is common too though. Chance said Dr. Scott said put vaseline on it and that's all I could really do because they typically don't like to put steroid on infant's faces. He said it's common and they don't really know what it's from. I told Chance I was taking him in to the office today and he said I was crazy since Dr. Scott already said what to do. Well, I told him if I woke up this morning and it was worse, I was going in - crazy or not! Well, woke up this morning and yes, DEFINITELY WORSE! It had spread even more and his eye lids were swollen as well.. He didn't even look like himself. Soo called the Doc and made and appt. Took him in and he said that it's definitely that but it's a worse case than just the common "cradle cap" - AWESOME. Anyways, he told me I could use a steroid cream (hydrocortisone) 2x's a day for up to two weeks if needed along with vaseline. Of course, as will all things and babies, there isn't a "clear answer" as to how long it lasts, why they get it or the cure. He said somehow some babies get it (pure luck not to get it)from hormones that are passed on from their mothers through the placenta. It may also be something from my hormones now too, because he mentioned that it can happen whether I am breastfeeding or bottle feeding (which is what I am doing). So basically somehow all the hormones cause it in some babies. I started the cream and am continuing with the Vaseline I started yesterday. Praying this rash will go away FAST! I feel so bad for him. I know it is bothering him and there is nothing I can do to fix it :( So please pray for Mr. C! This post comes without a pictures because you definitely wouldn't want to see this yucky rash- but underneath it is a precious- getting chunky little boy :) He weighed 10lbs 5oz with a diaper on today! He's gained almost 3 lbs in 3 weeks.

Ballet/Tap

Yesterday was Ella's last day of her Ballet/Tap workshop. The teacher let us come in and watch them do the first 20 minutes of the class-the tap part. Of course I jumped on the chance to take 9 million pictures and video the whole thing! Chance did the videoing and I must admit, he's not the best video-grapher so I apologize for the quality :) FYI the girl next to Ella is like 5 or 6... all the smaller girls Ella's age were on the left and you can't see them. The blonde next to her is 4.

Miss Tapper

Ella started a ballet workshop yesterday... it's just a 4 day class to see kind of what ballet this year will be like. They do 20 minutes of tap, 20 minutes of ballet, and I think like 20 minutes of tumbling and singing. The tumbling and singing is really just for fun I think... I don't think they do that in the real ballet class coming up. She will start officially in August. I am sooo excited to see her perform at her recital. I have watched millions of tapes and seen TONS of pictures of me and my sister in ballet and tap when we were little so it's soo fun to see her doing it now. She even wore my tap shoes to class yesterday. My Mom found them in the closet and they happened to be her size, a size 10. I am not sure when I wore the shoes though? They have my name in them so I know they are mine, but I bet I was like 4 when I wore them. She has really big and wide feet! I almost started crying a little bit yesterday when she went in. It was like she didn't even hesitate to go with her teacher...she just waved by to me. (She also started a music class today where she went by herself and she did the same thing! We had been in the class for like 6 months as a mom and tot class so this was her "big girl" class she was going to...I thought she would not want to go with a stranger, but I guess since it was a girl, she went with no hesitation.) I went in there before they started to take a picture and she just smiled :) Afterwards, she said she had a lot of fun...she kinda got cranky shortly after and started crying for her father but I am still not sure why?! Hopefully, she doesn't hesitate to go back today! We shall see. I just wished they had a 2 way mirror or something so I could actually see what they are doing! I think we get to see on Thursday and you KNOW I will have my Flip with me :)

Blue Eyes

Creighton is finally starting to really stay awake some during the day. It's fun to him him "yelp" at us! Ella finds it hilarious and even more hilarious when we cries...she laughs at him at his saddest moments (starving and getting his diaper changed)...poor baby!

He just had a bath and it was the first bath where he stayed alert and didn't have to have his paci to calm him! Yay! Ella was always a good bath taker so I was worried about this one when he yelled the first few baths and HAD to have his paci to be calmed. Holding a paci in a mouth with one hand and bathing with the other is not very easy! Another reason why people should have like 4 arms...

4 Weeks Tomorrow

I cannot believe this little guy will be 4 weeks tomorrow!! Eeeeek! He's such a joy and I can;t get over how fast time flies! I don't even remember what it was like to not have him here?! It just seems so normal now. Crazy!

"Er-nastics"

Gymnastics is one of those words Ella still doesn't say. I am sure by now she can and has probably said it before, but we think it's hilarious that she calls it "er-nastics" so that's what we call it too. We should probably stop soon. We are holding onto her being a "baby" for as long as we can :) A couple others we LOVE are "ableep" for asleep and "criends" for friends and "ploke" for coke. A lot of the others ones she started to fix :( She used to not be able to say "Coby" so she called her friend Toby instead. We tried to get her to say "Coby" by saying "Ca-Ca-Coby" and that let to "Ca-Ca-Toby". I think she just wanted to name him Toby. She has finally started to call him Coby, but I am still having a hard time remembering it's Coby, haha!

Anyways-to the point of this post. Ella has her gymnastics party a couple of weeks ago. Me being a frantic mother of 2, forgot to charge my camera!! I had a friend take some pictures of her getting her award and stuff so I would have them to post. Well, she went into labor shortly after and now has a newborn so there is nooo way I am going to beg her for them! As soon as she gets them to me I will add to this post! Here are some pictures and some videos I actually got :)

Mav's 1st Bath

Creighton's cord fell off when he was 12 days old so on day 13 we got to give him a real bath, but don't tell his Pediatrician... when we went to his 2 week appointment, he told me not to submerge him in water just yet because all the gunk wasn't out yet- oops! Oh well, it's out now and he is fine :) Here are some photos of our adventure... Ella, of course, was a huge help! Chance gave up on taking pictures and started videoing so I don't have a bunch of pictures!

BTW he is already 3 weeks old!!! Oh my goodness it's going sooo fast!!

2 Week Check-up

On Tueday Creighton had his 2 week check up appointment. Little man was 7lbs 12oz and 21 inches long, so that means he put on 1 pound and grew 2 inches! Honestly, I think they just measured wrong at the hospital, haha. I do think he has gotten longer, but 2 whole inches?! I doubt it! There was some question about his weight the day after he was born...the grams they wrote down didn't equal the pounds they wrote down. I have pictures of the scale to prove both but they don't equal?! haha. Plus, we aren't exactly sure of the time he was born either...no one really said anything about a time and when Chance asked they were like "uhhhhh 3:36pm"-haha so who knows how accurate his information is :)Either way, he is definitely growing because his newborn outfits with feet are almost too small!
